Homer’s rainy downpour Thursday dismayed Sherri Carr, on her way to be
interviewed for a Vaseline audition that seeks to find an “amazing
town” among three coastal locations.
Carr figured Homer should win out over Kodiak and Sitka for its scenic
beauty and people. So she brought her photo album with her to the
interview.
“I’m going to show them what it looks like on a sunny day,” Carr said,
showing a photo of Kachemak Bay rimmed by its mountains.
Carr was one of about 30 people who filtered into Homer City Hall
Thursday, gamely but not real sure what the interview would be about.
Often overlooked, the delicate art and craft of gardening involves a
whole lot more than just burying seeds in fertile soil and hoping the
sprouts survive until summer happens.
Fortunately, the cool start to summer hasn’t delayed blooms in local
gardens and the Homer Garden Club is again putting some members’
creative efforts on display for their annual show-and-tell this
Saturday and Sunday.
