CURRENT EXHIBITS<br />
Fabulous 50’s Ritz 2009 Art Preview Exhibit<br />
Preview Art and Adventure Packages that will be up for auction at Pratt Museum’s annual Ritz fundraiser are available for viewing at the Pratt Museum through Nov. 5.<br />
Sea bird carvings are on exhibit in the Marine Gallery. These wooden carvings, by Alan Bennett, feature a unique representation of the tribe Mergini (sea ducks).  Heavily impacted by the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, some have not yet fully recovered.<br />
Kachemak Bay: An Exploration of People and Place. This innovative exhibit is a complete redesign of the Pratt’s main galleries, with Phase I completed in 2004. Community-based videos, photo essays, computer interactives, and visitor-controlled remote video technology take visitors beyond the museum walls to historic and contemporary life around Kachemak Bay, providing an intimate means of understanding people and place.<br />

Voices for the Ocean, Sept. 6.  A flotilla of boats and kayaks will form a message about climate change and ocean acidification, and aerial photographs will help spread this message to decisionmakers worldwide.  If you want to participate in the flotilla, contact Alan Parks (399.3096) and meet at Mako’s Water Taxi at 2:00 PM.  After-party and rally 5-7 p.m. on the boardwalk behind Mako’s Water Taxi, with featured speakers, great food and live music.  This is a free event. Current exhibits<br />
In and Through, New Works by Kat Tomka<br />
Kat Tomka’s abstract and metaphorical works explore the space where life collides between/in/through the water, air, and land.   On exhibit August 21-September 28.<br />
Facing the Elements ─ This exhibition is completely open to the elements and offers artists the natural surroundings as a unique backdrop. Artists of all mediums have been invited to participate in this exhibit, which can be viewed by the public through September.<br />
Sea Bird Carvings are on exhibit in the Marine Gallery through August.  These wooden carvings by Alan Bennett feature a unique representation of the tribe Mergini (sea ducks).  Heavily impacted by the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, some have not yet fully recovered.<br />
Kachemak Bay: An Exploration of People and Place &#8211; This innovative exhibit is a complete redesign of the Pratt’s main galleries, with Phase I completed in 2004. Community-based videos, photo essays, computer interactives, and visitor-controlled remote video technology take visitors beyond the museum walls to historic and contemporary life around Kachemak Bay, providing an intimate means of understanding people and place.<br />

In and Through, New Works by Kat Tomka<br />
Kat Tomka’s abstract and metaphorical works explore the space where life collides between/in/through the water, air, and land.   On exhibit August 21-September 28.</p>
<p>Facing the Elements<br />
 This exhibition is completely open to the elements and offers artists the natural surroundings as a unique backdrop. Artists of all mediums have been invited to participate in this exhibit, which can be viewed by the public through September.</p>
<p>Sea Bird Carvings are on exhibit in the Marine Gallery through August.  These wooden carvings, by Alan Bennett, feature a unique representation of the tribe Mergini (sea ducks).  Heavily impacted by the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, some have not yet fully recovered.</p>
<p>Kachemak Bay: An Exploration of People and Place<br />
This innovative exhibit is a complete redesign of the Pratt’s main galleries, with Phase I completed in 2004. Community-based videos, photo essays, computer interactives, and visitor-controlled remote video technology take visitors beyond the museum walls to historic and contemporary life around Kachemak Bay, providing an intimate means of understanding people and place. </p>

<p>The final Harbor Tour of the 2009 summer season is Aug. 29.  Beginning at 3 p.m. each Friday and Saturday afternoon in the summer, this walking tour features local history, a memorable array of local characters and boats of all types.
