Biz ideas bring in the big bucks

Introducing the “boot buddy” a utility belt that has everything you need for fishing. It fits the boots you always wear, as well as those thigh waders on high-tide days. Daniel Harris, designer of the boot buddy, won first place and $1,000 in the Friends of the Homer Public Library BIZ-idea contest. Daniel’s model was just one of many entries received in the contest that began early November.
“The boot buddy is a utility tackle belt that is adjustable to fit on either your boot or your thigh waders,” Harris explained at the Nov. 20 awards event. “To give credit where credit is due, it is not (just) my idea, honestly my mom came up with it. And when we saw this idea contest, I said we should go for it. She is innovative, creative and amazing.”
