Baird brings the bronze at Freeride World Tour
In his rookie year on the Freeride World Tour, Homer snowboarder Davey Baird finished third at the Haines "Venue" of the tour last week.
The 740-meter, (2,427-foot) mountain face among the Chilkat Mountains offered "perfect conditions" on Friday.
After the area received a significant amount of snow the previous week, tour officials made the decision to postpone the Thursday event to Friday because of avalanche concerns. All three of the top men's snowboarders were not only Americans, they were Alaskans.
Baird is currently ranked No. 5 on the Freeride World Tour with a total of 5,418 points.
