FIRE March 6 - March 12

Anchor Point Fire & EMS responded to four emergency medical service calls and two fire calls.

Kachemak Emergency Services responded to two EMS calls and one fire call.

Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded to 13 EMS calls and one fire call.


March 9

8:02 a.m. A caller reported a subject sleeping in the lobby of a business. The subject was removed and issued a trespass warning.

11:04 a.m. A caller reported an abandoned vehicle impeding snow removal on Mission Road.

1:49 p.m. A caller reported a disabled vehicle holding up traffic on East Hill Road.

6:53 p.m. A caller advised a dog was chasing cars on East End Road.

March 10

7:56 a.m. A caller reported a possibly injured moose at West Hill Road and the Sterling Highway.

9:10 a.m. A caller reported theft from a vehicle and vandalism on the Sterling Highway.

12:26 p.m. A caller reported criminal activity on East Fairview Avenue.

2:34 p.m. A caller reported a known male was following her in his vehicle. Caller was advised to drive to a safe location.

3:55 p.m. A female came to the police department to report littering and possible REDDI at Wright Street and Fairview Avenue.

8:11 p.m. An unknown caller reported intoxicated people leaving a business and may possibly drive away. Caller called back to advise subjects left in a taxi.

March 11

1:13 a.m. A caller in the Homer area reported a juvenile late returning home.

8:05 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle on Paintbrush Court.

9:29 a.m. A 911 caller reported a fight between two males at a business on Fish Dock Road.

12:10 p.m. A caller advised he found drug paraphernalia on East End Road.

3:50 p.m. A caller requested police be on the lookout for a subject who may be in possession of stolen items.

5:49 p.m. A caller reported a sick moose calf on Kachemak Drive.

8:18 p.m. An officer assisted medics with a call on Shelford Street.

March 12

10:37 a.m. A caller reported a hit-and-run at Ramp One on Spit Road.

2:18 p.m. A female reported an assault on Lake Street.

7:55 p.m. A caller reported a lost dog near mile 6 of East End Road.

10:57 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle driving slowly back and forth before parking oddly on Kachemak Way. An officer contacted the party who were out on foot looking for their loose dog.

Alaska State Troopers

On March 9, at 2:30 p.m., troopers responded to a liquor store in Anchor Point for a report of a theft. Investigation showed an intoxicated Anthony Hays, 64 of Palmer, had entered the store and stolen an alcoholic beverage. Further investigation showed Hays was violating conditions of release in prior criminal cases. He was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail without bail.

On March 9, at 4:10 p.m., troopers stopped a vehicle on North Fork Road at the Sterling Highway for expired registration. The driver was identified as a 14-year-old Anchor Point resident. A records check showed the driver did not have a valid driver's license. He was given a summons to appear in court for no valid operator's license and released to an adult.

On March 10, at 10 a.m., Homer Police Department officers arrested Roy Burke, 39 of Homer, at the request of the Alaska State Troopers. Burke was arrested following a trooper investigation of an assault he committed on March 9. He was remanded into the Homer Jail without bail.
