Homer Squirts take Tier III state hockey title

The Homer Glacier King hockey team went undefeated at the Alaska Squirt C Tier III State Championships in Wasilla over the weekend. Homer defeated Kenai 3-1 in the championship game, winning their first-ever state title.

The Homer Hockey Glacier Kings Squirt C team went undefeated in their weekend quest for the Alaska Squirt Tier III State Hockey title. The Glacier Kings defeated Kenai 3-1 in the championship game to claim the crown. Ten teams from around the state competed in Wasilla in the three-day tourney.
Scoring for Homer in the title game were Micah Williamson with two goals, and Kazden Stineff with one. Kenai’s lone goal was reportedly scored in the final 10 seconds of the game, and only after Kenai pulled their goalie to play one man up.
Coaching the team are former Homer High School Hockey standout and head coach Chris Owen, along with assistant coaches Dave Bolin and Travis Larson.
Squirts are 10 years old and younger as of Dec. 31. This is reportedly the first time the Squirt C Homer team has ever won state champions.
State champions include: Rachel Bolin, Terry Gilliland, Hunter Green, Delilah Harris, Timothy Hatfield, Fiona Hatton, Dylan Mcbride, Tobias Nevak, Casey Otis, Haylee Owen, Kazden Stineff, Keegan Strong and Micah Williamson.
