A 29-year-old Soldotna man is dead following a single-vehicle crash at mile 9.5 of Homer’s East End Road on Wednesday.

Alaska State Troopers report that Trevor Cunningham of Soldotna was ejected from the driver’s seat of the AIMM Technologies, Inc. commercial vehicle he was operating when the truck crashed and overturned just before 10:30 a.m.

Cunningham was driving toward Homer when the truck overturned, causing the tank to separate from the vehicle’s frame.
Alaska State Troopers and Kachemak Emergency Services responded to the scene, and Cunningham was transported to South Peninsula Hospital, where he was declared deceased.

AIMM, an industrial service technology company for which Cunningham worked, announced in a release last week that they are deeply saddened by the tragic accident, and will be working with the Troopers, Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Department of Transportation to investigate the wreck.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Cunningham family,” the release stated.

The vehicle was reportedly hauling drilling mud, some of which spilled at the time of the crash. Both the Department of Environmental Conservation and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement have been contacted and are responding accordingly.
Cunningham’s next of kin has been notified, and the wreck is under investigation by the Troopers’ Bureau of Highway Patrol.
