Meet your basketball Mariners
The Homer Mariner Boys and Girls basketball teams invite the community to a night of “Meet the Mariners” tomorrow, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. in the gym.
The evening acts as a fundraiser for the boys basketball program, and features a soup and bread dinner for $5 per person, as well as a live dessert auction.
Entertainment for the evening includes a scrimmage by the Homer Husky basketball teams, the music of Homer’s High’s Pep Band and this year’s basketball cheerleaders.
Both Mariner girls and boys teams will be introduced, and players will showcase drills, plays and competitive scrimmages.

Women host Winter Hockey Jamboree
Homer Women’s Hockey will host its annual Winter Jamboree on Jan. 17-19 at Kevin Bell Arena.
The round-robin tourney is designed to mix up players of all abilities for a weekend of fun. The registration fee is $85 and includes four games, plus final crossovers.
The tournament is sponsored by Beluga Lake Lodge, and space is limited, so teams are encouraged to sign up early. The tourney will feature eight teams of 11-12 players.

Broomball returns in January
Due to low turnout at the last couple weeks of broomball action, league official have decided to cancel play for the rest of December.

From the 4H office
The 4H annual meeting has been rescheduled to Jan. 7, 2014 at 6 p.m. at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building. The meeting will focus on voting on an amendment to bylaws, as well as adding an Organizational Club Leader position.
