Police Report – November 20

Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded to five EMS and two fire calls for the week of Nov. 11 – 17.
Kachemak Emergency Services responded to 4 medical emergency calls and 1 fire call during the week of Nov. 11th -17th.

On Nov. 14,  at about 1930 hours Alaska State Troopers received a REDDI complaint from a concerned citizen. Troopers observed the reported REDDI vehicle traveling eastbound on East End Road with an equipment violation. Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted Anatoly Martushev, age 29 of Voznesenka who was intoxicated. Martushev was given a series of field sobriety tests which he failed. Martushev was arrested at the scene, and transported to the Homer Police Department for datamaster. Martushev refused to provide a sample of his breath and was remanded to the Homer Jail without bail for DUI and Refusal; additionally, Martushev was issued a citation for Headlight Requirements.

On Nov. 15, at about 2155 hours Alaska State Troopers and the Homer Police Department responded to a residence near milepost 7 East End Road in Homer for a disturbance. Investigation at the scene revealed that Cynthia M. Shearer, age 25 of Homer had assaulted a family member with a knife. Further investigation revealed that Shearer was in possession of a controlled substance. Shearer was highly intoxicated and was transported to the South Peninsula Hospital in Homer for observation and clearance before being remanded to the Homer Jail where she was held without bail.

Nov. 13
Drug Information: An anonymous caller reported drug paraphernalia on Bishops Beach. An officer went to the scene, recovered the items and properly disposed of them.

Nov. 14
Trespass: An officer responded to a report of a man sleeping in the Post Office. The officer contacted the man and issued a trespass.
Driving While Intoxicated: A 911 caller reported an REDDI vehicle. An officer contacted the driver on East End Road. Driver was arrested for DUI, driving while license was revoked and misconduct involving a weapon.

Nov. 15
Domestic Dispute: A 911 caller reported a man and woman yelling. An officer went to the scene at Ternview Place. The office contacted the man and woman but they denied any kind of dispute.
Animal Related Offense/Complaint: A 911 caller reported animals had been left in a vehicle on Mullikin and Fairview Avenue. Animal Control was notified.
Assist Fire Department: An officer assisted the fire department with a medic call on Danview Avenue.
Welfare Check: A caller requested a welfare check on a family member. An officer went to the last known address and areas but was unable to locate the family member.
Suspicious Circumstances: A caller reported juveniles in a local parking lot acting suspiciously. An officer went to the area on Hazel Avenue, contacted the skate boarders and all was ok.
Driving While License was Revoked: A caller reported an REDDI vehicle. An officer went to the scene on Pioneer Avenue and the driver is issued a summons for driving while license was revoked.

Nov. 16
Drug Information: A caller reported finding a syringe at Bishops Beach.

Nov. 17
Child Neglect: A caller reported a car driving with a child not secured in a car seat.

Nov. 18
Possess/Use of MJ: A caller reported a juvenile in possession of marijuana. An officer contacted the juvenile and parent on Ben Walters Lane.
Animal Related Offense/Complaint: An anonymous caller reported some dogs had been left in a  vehicle without food or water. An officer went to the scene on Fairview and found all to be ok.
