Find my iPhone

Staff report
Homer Tribune

When a Homer resident called police to report that his iPhone had been stolen from his vehicle  on Bonanza Avenue, he also had something else to tell them – where they could find it.
The caller said he had the “Find My iPhone” application and according to the app, it was near Homer Cleaners located on Main Street near the southeast portion of the parking lot.
When officers responded they observed Lucky Daniel Ackerman, 35, sleeping near the back of  Homer Cleaners, according to charging documents.  Ackerman had been asked to leave another parking lot on Main Street earlier.
Police called the stolen iPhone’s number and heard a faint buzzing sound coming from Ackerman’s bag lying next to him. Ackerman said he had found the phone on the ground, but forgot to tell police when asked about it earlier. The value of the iPhone is $300.
Ackerman was charged with theft in the second degree a class C felony.
Ackerman has three previous convictions of theft in the last three years.
