Kachemak Emergency Services responded to three emergency medical calls during the week of Oct. 21 – 27.
Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded to six EMS calls and two fire calls for the week of Oct. 21 – 27.
On Oct. 24, at 11:53 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported disturbance on Knob Hill Road near Homer. The caller advised the Soldotna Public Safety Dispatch Center that a male had arrived at his residence confrontational and brandishing a pistol. Upon arrival, troopers were advised the male had not brandished the pistol but intentionally displayed the weapon by moving his coat to show the complainant he was armed. The suspect was gone upon trooper arrival, and officers determined no assault had occurred.
On Oct. 24, at 11:53 p.m., Alaska State Trooper Chambers was making an emergency response to a disturbance near Nikolaevsk involving a weapon, when he hit a patch of black ice on the Sterling Highway and lost control of his patrol vehicle. The vehicle spun a few times in the road, before exiting the west side of the Sterling Highway near North Fork Road and rolling. The patrol vehicle came to rest upside down at the bottom of an embankment, in a swampy area. Water began filling the passenger compartment of the vehicle, but Trooper Chambers was wearing his seat belt and was not injured in the wreck. He was able to escape the vehicle through the driver’s door window. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $10,000.
Aircraft Accident: A 911 caller reported an airplane crash. Officers responded to the scene on FAA road, but no injuries were reported.
Intoxicated Pedestrian: A 911 caller reported an intoxicated man passed out on a Hazel Avenue sidewalk. An officer responded and found a responsible person was at the scene, and all was OK.
Drug Information: A man reported drug information on Mattox Road.
Amphetamine/Possess: An officer made contact with a green Nissan at Mile 170 of the Sterling Highway, and conducted a drug investigation.
Threats: A caller reported a man threatening employees two days prior at the Homer Library. An officer was advised.
Drug Information: A woman called to reported information on a drug dealer in the Homer area. An officer was advised.
Suspicious Circumstances: A anonymous caller reported, after the fact, that a man with glazed eyes came in asking for money at a local business.
Drug Information: A caller reported loitering cars conducting drug deals in the parking lot on Ben Walters Lane.
Suicide Attempt/Threat: A caller requested a welfare check on a woman. An officer went to the residence on W. Bunnell Avenue and transported the woman to South Peninsula Hospital and she was housed for protective custody.
Liquor Law Violations: A caller reported a highly intoxicated man wearing only a t-shirt and underwear attempting to be served at a local bar and trying to gain access to local hotel rooms. An officer responded to the scene, contacted the pant-less man and escorted him back to his hotel room where his family took care of him for the evening.
Motor Vehicle Accident: A 911 caller reported a single vehicle roll over. No injures were reported and an officer responded to the scene.
Suspicious Circumstances: A caller reported a woman stealing items from the Salvation Army “Dumpster.”
Possess/Sell/Manufacture/Heroin: A woman was arrested for fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and first-degree promoting contraband.
Suspicious Circumstances: The dispatch received a suspicious email, a complainant made a reference to being threatened through tweets and youtube. Dispatch emailed a complainant back to ascertain more information, but the complainant did not reply.
Theft of Vehicle: An officer sees a car leave the Sterling Highway and watches the driver flee the scene. The owner of the car was contacted. The car was stolen earlier in the day but had gone unnoticed.
Criminal/Malic Mischief/Personal: An employee of a local health clinic reported vandalism to a car left overnight in a parking lot.
Drugs/School: Homer High School reported drug paraphernalia found on school grounds. An officer went to the scene.
