Police Report – October 23

On Oct. 16, Troopers were patrolling on Diamond Ridge Road near Homer when they observed a green GMC pickup speeding and being driven by a known driver with a suspended driver’s license. The driver failed to stop, and sped through a residential area on a gravel roadway, crossing both lanes numerous times.  After a lengthy pursuit and search, the driver was apprehended and identified as Gavril Konev, age 27, of Homer. A search in APSIN verified Konev suspended with conditions of release. Investigation revealed a controlled substance in the vehicle. Troopers arrested Konev for Elude I, Reckless Driving, DWLS, MICS IV, and VCOR and remanded him to the Homer Jail on no bail.

On Oct. 16, Troopers contacted Eric Haughey, age 36, of Homer, for speeding.  A search in APSIN revealed Haughey with an active warrant for a commercial fishing violation. Troopers arrested Haughey on the warrant and transported him to the Homer Jail where he was remanded on $600 bail.

On Oct. 20,  Troopers were patrolling near mile 157 Sterling Highway when they observed Ashley Troyer, age 41, of Anchor Point pass their position. Troopers were aware of Troyers Alaska OL being suspended. A check in APSIN revealed suspended for FTM liability insurance. Troopers  stopped Troyer for speeding and issued a summons for the DWLS.

Oct. 15
Drug Information: A man reported drug activity and vehicles driving at excessive speeds on Bishops Beach. Some patrols were requested.
Possess/Sell/Manufacture/Herion: A caller reported a suspicious car on Noview Avenue. Some officers went to the scene. One woman was arrested for second, fifth, and sixth degrees misconduct involving a controlled substance, two counts of fourth degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, driving while license was suspended and was lodged at Homer jail.

Oct. 16
Drugs/School: Homer Middle School reported marijuana found in a school locker. An officer was advised.
Trespass: A caller reported a dog sitter would not return their dog. An officer went to the scene on Bay Vista Place and the dog sitter was trespassed from the residence of dog owner.

Oct. 17
Animal Related Complaint: Multiple callers reported a bear in the area of Klondike Avenue and Heath Street. Some officers patrolled the area and Fish and Game were notified.

Oct. 18
Possess/Sell/Manufacture/Herion: An officer contacted a shoplifter. A woman was arrested for fourth degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and third degree theft. Also a man was arrested for fourth degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.
Theft from building: A Safeway employee reported a man shopper had walked out with a basket of groceries.

Driving while intoxicated-drugs: Some officers made contact with a car in the ditch. The driver was arrested for DUI drugs.

Oct. 19
Driving while license is suspended: A man went to the police station to request information about a prisoner being housed at the Homer jail. The mans drivers license was found to be in a state of suspension. The man was witness driving away from the Homer Police Department, was stopped by a traffic stop and fled the scene.

Oct. 21
Suicide Attempt/threat: A 911 caller reported a suicidal man.  An officer went to the scene on Grubstake.
