Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded to 13 emergency medical service calls and four fire calls.
Anchor Point Fire and EMS responded to two medical calls and two fire calls.
Alaska State Troopers
On August 3, Troopers responded to an assault near Happy Valley. Prior to their arrival on scene Troopers were advised parties were separated. Investigation revealed Steven Abeldgaard, age 58, of Anchor Point, had assaulted an ex-girlfriend. Troopers arrested Abeldgaard for Assault IV DV and remanded him to the Homer jail.
Shoplifting: A woman reported shoplifters had been viewed on camera. An officer was advised.
Harassment: A caller reported a woman boarding a USCG vessel and harassing the staff on the vessel and in the office. An officer was advised.
Traffic Hazard: A caller reported an ENSTAR vehicle parked on a curve in a dangerous area on East Hill Road. No officer was available at the time.
Drug Information: A caller reported a woman on Ben Walters Lane tried to sell her heroin with children in the car, and then left the scene.
Information: A caller reported a woman smoking in a car with a newborn child present.
Animal Complaint: A caller reported a dog had killed some chickens. An officer was advised.
Animal Complaint: A woman called to report an aggressive porcupine. Fish and Game were notified.
Suspicious Circumstances: A caller reported finding unknown remains at the local park. An officer went to the scene on the Spit and determined the remains belonged to a seal.
Suspicious Circumstances: An anonymous caller reported some juvenile boys on the restroom roof at the local park. An officer went to the scene but was unable to locate the boys.
Violating Camping Rules: An officer contacted people camping illegally on Beluga Place. He gave them other camping options.
Disturbance: A 911 caller reported four intoxicated men on his premises and one attempting to kick the caller when he asked them to leave. An officer went to the scene on Ben Walters Lane and told the men they needed to leave and to not return.
Motor Vehicle Accident: Several 911 callers reported a car had run off Homer Spit Road. Officers and medics responded, and arrested one man for assault, obstruction of a highway and reckless endangerment. Another man was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Civil Problem: A woman reported a dispute with a man hired for construction labor who had kept a tool which the woman had paid for. An officer gave her some options.
Animal Related Complaint: A caller reported unattended horses crossing Kachemak Drive. An officer went to the scene but was unable to locate any horses.
Disorderly Conduct: A caller reported a sleeping man under a car in the parking lot of a local business. An officer went to the scene on E. Pioneer Ave and warned the sleeping man for disorderly conduct. A cab gave the man a ride home.
Disturbance: An anonymous caller reported neighboring noise of a party. An officer went to the residence on Rangeview Avenue and got the partying neighbors to go to bed for the evening.
Animal Related Complaint: A caller reported four loose horses running across the road. An officer went down to East End Rd, located the horses, contacted the owner, and made sure the horses were secured in their enclosure.
Intoxicated Pedestrian: An officer made contact with people who were running in the road. The officer advised the runners to not enter any bars or liquors stores for the night.
Marijuana: An officer contacted someone in a car on the side of the road. Marijuana was seized for destruction.
Driving while intoxicated: A caller reported a car spinning brodies on the beach near tents, throwing sand and gravel across the road and onto cars. An officer went down to the Spit and arrested one man for DUI and misconduct of a controlled substance in the sixth degree.
Welfare Check: A 911 caller reported an intoxicated man possibly losing consciousness in a local cafe. An officer went to the cafe to find all was ok but the man was trespassed from the cafe for 24 hours.
Animal Related Complaint: A caller reported an injured otter on the beach 3-4 miles down from Bishops Beach. The sealife center was advised
Theft from building: A caller reported a piece of petrified wood had been stolen. She later called back to say she had found it.
Theft from building: A caller reported an iPod touch and some geckos had been taken from her residence.
