Juanita Cox, 92, born Aug. 29, 1920 in Newcastle, Wyo. passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 13, 2013 in Homer.
A celebration of her life is scheduled for Sept. 7 at the Glacierview Baptist Church in Homer. The time of the celebration is pending.
Juanita was a treasure and left a legacy of love, patience and acceptance of others. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
Her struggles through life as a single mother during a time when women were frowned upon, gave her a strength of character she passed on to her three children; Ron Cox, Stephen Cox and Donna Scovell.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents Mace and Alice Payton, three of her sisters; Wanda Myers, Doris Holbrook and Deloris Leighty and her beloved son, Stephen Cox.
She is survived by her baby sister Macie Mae Carey and her family; her children Ron Cox and his wife Pat, her daughter Donna (Leece) Scovell and her son-in law Terry. She has five grandchildren: Dennis Cox and wife Sharon, Stephen Cox and wife Angela, Jeff Cox, Sharron Pelletier-Pierz and husband Tim, and Matthew Stanley.
She had 10 great grandchildren: Christen Young, Nathan Cox, Nicholas Cox, Jon Cox, Michael Cox, Daniel Cox, Ryan Cox, Tyler Cox, Ashley Combs and William Pelletier.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Glacierview Baptist Church Youth Group in Homer or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of great granddaughter, Ashley Combs.
