Police Report – July 31

Fire
Kachemak Emergency Services responded to two  medical emergency calls during the week of July 22 -28.
Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded to 13 EMS calls and two fire calls for the week of July 22 – 28.
On July 24, crews responded to E. Bayview for a resident who was burning during burn suspension.
On July 28, crews responded to and extinguished three abandoned camp fires near Bishop’s Beach.
Anchor Point Fire and EMS responded to four medical calls and two fire calls the week of July 22 – July 28.

Troopers
On July 22, the Alaska State Troopers investigated a reported burglary at a residence in Nikolaevsk. Investigation revealed a six-year-old female and an eight-year-old male, both of Nikolaevsk, entered the residence while the property owners were not at home. They caused an estimated $150 in damage to the interior of the residence and stole cash. The case was forwarded to the Juvenile Probation Office.

Police

July 22
Traffic: A 911 caller reported a teenage boy riding a BMX bike down East Hill into oncoming traffic and the caller was worried for the boy’s safety. An officer made contact with the biker.
Welfare Check: A harbor officer reported a young boy found without his parents in the road. An officer went to the Spit and the parents arrived for their son.
Suspicious Circumstances: A caller reported a woman inside the paper recycling bin at the baling facility, looking at the paper. An officer was advised.

July 23
Disturbance: A 911 caller reported noise and possible party at the campground on the Spit. An officer went to the scene and the noisy campers were advised to be quieter.
Civil Problem: A man reported his halibut was being taken by other people on a charter. An officer advised him.
Welfare Check: A caller reported his wife had called him the previous night to say she had been assaulted by her boyfriend.
Assault: A caller reported a woman had entered her house and wanted to assault her. The assaulter was arrested.

July 24
Suspicious Circumstances: A caller reported suspicious items in a bank deposit. An officer retrieved the items.
Fraud: A woman went to the police department to report a possible identity theft.
Animal Related Complaint: A caller reported a cat bite but refused any medical attention.
Suspicious Circumstances: A caller reported people sitting on a couch near the bluff. An officer went to the scene on Ohlson Lane but found nothing suspicious.

July 26
Endanger Welfare of Minor: A 911 caller reported an unknown man had tried to give a juvenile girl candy but the girl walked away. An officer went to the scene.
Burglary: A third party reported a man was breaking into a neighbor’s shed. An officer went to the house on W. Cityview and found that the “burglar” was mowing the lawn.
Theft from building: A caller reported a man had stolen a potted plant from his porch and threatened him. An officer made the man return the plant and the man was trespassed from the property.
Contributing to a Minor: An anonymous caller reported an adult man was buying alcohol for minors that included the caller’s son.

July 27
City Ordinance: A caller reported a tour bus had dumped grey water in front of a local business. An officer went to the area on Freight Dock Road and advised the tour bus driver where to dump.
Protective Custody: A caller reported and requested a welfare check on an intoxicated man in the woods behind a local business on Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the woods and the man was detained at the Homer jail in protective custody.

July 28

Trespass: A caller reported a man unconscious in a car on Greatland Street. An officer went to investigate and the unconscious man was arrested for trespass.
Protective Custody: A caller reported a man threatening customers and refusing to leave. An officer went to the scene and the man was taken into protective custody and issued a trespass from that business.
Suspicious Circumstances: A woman reported evidence of someone trying to burn down a building associated with local religious establishment on Ohlson Lane.
Protective Custody: A caller asked for a welfare check on an intoxicated man. An officer was advised but was diverted by another call. Later there was a report of the same intoxicated man lying in some bushes. An officer went to the scene on Pioneer Avenue and the man was taken into protective custody.
Unattended Death: A 911 caller reported a deceased man. Officers went to the scene and the body was transported to South Peninsula Hospital.
Disturbance: A 911 caller reported a verbal disturbance at an area worship center on East End Rd. An officer went to investigate.

July 29
Theft from yard: A man reported a theft of sporting equipment from  the school on Sterling Highway. Patrols of the area were requested.
Suspicious Circumstances: A woman called 911 to report hearing a gunshot. An officer went to the area on Ben Walters Lane but was unable to locate anything suspicious.
Burglary Attempt: A caller reported juveniles breaking into a business garage. An officer went to the scene on E. Pioneer Avenue but the keyholder was there and assured that nothing was missing.
