Local man dies in ATV accident

Ray Garrity's friends march down Pioneer Avenue on Monday, July 1, in memory of their friend who died last Wednesday in an ATV accident. Garrity was well known in Homer as part of the Ray-Jen Cajun band, and as a carpenter. He was 53.

Rayond Garrity, 53, well-known musician and Homer resident was found dead on a trail near Mile 18 of East End Road at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. According to a trooper report, Garrity was late returning home from riding his four-wheeler when authorities were notified. Kachemak Emergency Services found Garrity dead from injuries sustained when the four-wheeler he was operating flipped. He was unable to be revived.
Garrity was half of the band Ray-Jen Cajun with his long-time partner of more than 20 years, Jennifer King. He also worked as a carpenter in Homer.
His body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
