Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded to seven emergency medical service and one fire call for the week of April 15 – 22.
Kachemak Emergency Services responded to four medical emergency calls during the week of April 15 – 22.
Anchor Point Fire and EMS responded to six medical calls and one fire call the week of April 15-22.
Alaska State Troopers responded to report of a REDDI vehicle near milepost 172 Sterling Highway. Troopers contacted the suspect vehicle and contacted the driver Quintin O. Hartwig, 18, of Anchor Point during a traffic stop for an equipment violation near the intersection of West Hill Road and Miller Drive in Homer. Investigation at the scene revealed that Hartwig was intoxicated. Hartwig was arrested at the scene, transported and remanded to the Homer Jail where he was held on $500 dollars bail.
Trespass: A woman requested a man be removed from a motel because he had been causing a disturbance and was threatening the manager. An officer went to the scene on W. Bunnell Avenue and the man was told he couldn’t be at the hotel indefinitely.
Traffic: A man called to report a 4-wheeler was racing up and down Soundview Avenue. An officer went to the scene but was unable to locate the speedy 4-wheeler.
Shoplifting: A caller reported three men shoplifting. An officer made contact with one of the men.
Disturbance: A woman reported people were talking outside on the balcony on Main Street. An officer advised her.
Disturbance: A caller reported a man was attempting to retrieve his vehicle without paying the tow bill.
Theft from building: A caller reported a woman had backed up to a drop box and loaded items from the box into her vehicle and then ran out of gas. An officer went to the scene on Pioneer Avenue and the woman was given a warning not to return to the store for one year.
Criminal/Malic/Mischief/Personal: A woman called 911 to report her door to her house on Mariner Drive had been damaged while she was away. An officer went to the scene and arrested one man for criminal mischief.
REDDI: A caller reported a REDDI vehicle. An officer contacted a vehicle which was pulling a large boat. The driver was a negative for alcohol and the vehicle was ordered off the road until the load was properly secured.
Assault/Family/Strongarm: A caller reported an intoxicated woman in the lobby of a local business on E. Pioneer Avenue. An officer reported to the scene. The woman was arrested on violation of conditions of release and domestic violence in the fourth degree.
Welfare Check: A caller requested a welfare check on someone sleeping in their car on Spit Road in a business parking lot. An officer went to investigate and found all was okay.
Suspicious Circumstances: A man called to report some juveniles walking on the beach and checking vehicles in a suspicious manner. An officer went to the area on Spit Road but was unable to locate any juveniles.
Assault(fourth degree): A 911 caller reported a dispute between two men. An officer went to the scene on Lee Drive. One man was arrested for assault and housed at the Homer jail.
Vehicle Tampering: A man reported a few people tampering with a vehicle in a business parking lot on Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the scene. The registered owner did not want to pursue law enforcement action. But the tamperers were trespassed from the business.
City Ordinance: An anonymous caller reported excessive noise from a neighboring apartment. An officer went to the scene on Main Street and the neighbors were warned for the noise.
Animal Related Complaint: A caller reported a dog with a broken leg walking down Klondike Avenue. Animal control was notified.
Trespass: A caller reported a man behaving suspiciously outside of a business. An officer went to the scene on Pioneer Avenue and arrested a man for criminal trespass in the second degree and disorderly conduct.
Assault/Non-family/Gun: There were multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance and possible firearm involvement. Some officers went to the scene on the Sterling Highway and one man was arrested on felony assault.
MVA: Department of Transportation reported a motor vehicle collision with a street sweeper. There were no injuries. An officer went to the scene on West Hill Road.
Criminal/Malic Mischief/Personal: A caller reported a car’s back window was broken and things were stolen from the car while it was parked in a state long term parking lot on Kachemak Drive.
Theft from building: A woman reported the theft of medications from a home on Hillview Place.
Missing Adult: A man reported that his adult daughter had not been seen or heard from since Saturday. An officer was advised.
Animal Related Complaint: A woman reported that her pig had been lost. She later called back to say her pig had been found.
Suspicious Vehicle: A 911 caller reported a suspicious vehicle on West Hill Road. An officer went to the scene. All was OK. A man was bird watching from his car.
