Squirts represent in Anchorage

Homer Hockey Association Squirts C Team participated in the President’s Day Invitational Hockey Tournament in Anchorage over the weekend.
The Homer Squirts beat the South Anchorage Mighty Moose and the Wasilla Wild teams to win in their conference of six teams. The wins earned them a spot in the semi-finals, where they lost in the first round.
 

This week in Broomball

Alice’s Scoundrels continue their reign in Friday Broomball action with four goals against the Down East Grayskulls and two against the Beluga Lake Bombers. The Grayskulls put themselves on the map with five goals against the Bombers, while the Bombers scored two goals against the Grayskulls.
Most valuable player awards went to Jessica Marx of the Scoundrels, Lucas Thoning of the Bombers, and Jennifer Bando of the Grayskulls.
Honorable mentions this week went to Curtis “Iron Skull” Jackson, Catriona “I Survived the Valentine Massacre” Lowe and Josiah “Iron Cup” Villarreal Campbell.

Huskies hope to ski 300k

The Homer Middle School Husky ski team is having a Ski-a-thon fundraiser 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24 at Sunset Loop. The team goal is to collectively ski 300 kilometers, and a suggested flat pledge is $7 to $15. Pledge with an HMS skier or call 399-3096.
In conjunction with the Ski-a-thon, Husky ski coaches will offer skate ski lessons to parents and the public. Beginner lessons run from 11 a.m. -noon, while intermediate ski lessons run from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
The fee is $25 per person, with all fees going to benefit HMS ski team. Registration is required for lessons. For more information, or to register, call Alan at 399-3096.

Let’s hear about horses

 Kachemak Bay Equestrian Association is looking for donations for its upcoming Cowboy Cabaret in April. Donations are needed for the silent auction, as well as baked goods for the desert auction. Please contact Cindy Birkhimer at 435-7575 to make arrangements to have your silent auction item picked up, and contact Renee Eidem at 299-7032 if you would like to donate a desert. 
KBEA’s annual horse show is scheduled for July 20, with Fairbanks’ Beth Austin acting as judge. If you would like to make a donation to sponsor the judge or some classes in the show, please contact Eidem, or Beth Tutt at 235-8129.
