Good idea. Let the rig stay in the harbor and pay the fees to be used for services needed in our community.

We do not need to discuss the issue of taxes again in the new year.

What we do need to discuss is how the city council has been spending the money they have already been given. It is absurd that the funds they did have were brazenly wasted on luxuries for them, meanwhile they come crying to us for more money saying it is our fault that city services will decline. Talk about the entitled class projecting blame on the victims.

We need a full accounting of what is being spent, and how the new funding from buccaneer is being spent. We would like that money to be used for a community center open late at night for our teenagers to use, not for giving to the Chamber of Commerce or whatever they want for themselves and the business community. It is time that the city council learn what it means to be a public servant and be held accountable to the public. We are paying the taxes, we are in charge. This is our town, not their town. It belongs to people, not foreign business or local business interests.

Before we take one step further with the gas line, we need a full accounting of what has been done with the water sewer system which turned out to be quite an expensive project for way more than the needs of Homer required. Many of these 'Taj Mahal's of Sewer Systems' have been built all over America, and the debt that it sinks the cities into creates quite a profit for JP Morgan and quite a problem for small towns all across America.
