Anchor Point couple killed in car accident

Two Anchor Point residents died in a fatal three-vehicle accident on Friday about 4 p.m. near Mile 49 of the Seward Highway.
Alaska State Troopers said 62-year-old James Campbell and 65-year-old Margaret Campbell were in a Toyota pickup truck that collided head-on with a Chevy Blazer. The Campbells were reportedly not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the pickup. Both died on scene, according to troopers.
Richard Patterson, 47, of Sterling, was identified as the driver of the Blazer. He was treated for injuries after being extricated. Troopers said the Blazer went 20 feet off the roadway and into the north-bound ditch.
Sara Linderman, 35, of Anchorage, was driving the Yukon. Troopers said she and her two passengers were uninjured.
Cooper Landing and Moose Pass emergency medical crews extricated Patterson with the assistance of Girdwood emergency crews, who transported Patterson to Providence Hospital.
The cause and circumstances of the crash are still under investigation by troopers. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the collision, troopers said in the news release.
The crash delayed traffic in the area for several hours. Troopers reopened the road later Friday evening.

Jim and Peg were great people and will be missed.

Peggy Campbell was my bilogical mother. Even though I did not get to grow up with her and spend very much time with her, we at least had kept in contact over the years. This news is so devastating; the unexpected finality of their death will take time to process. Praying for my (half) brothers, that God send comfort to them during this time and for the unforeseeable future as they adjust to this. I know it’s going to take me awhile to digest this…
