Squirts struggle against Moose, Hawks
The Homer Squirt C Glacier King Hockey team played in the Peninsual Power Play Tournament in Soldotna over the weekend.
The Glacier Kings opened with a 4-6 loss to the Kenai Peninsula Ice Hawks, before falling to the AHA Moose 1-8.
Homer regrouped to go up against the Moose Hockey Association Comets 8-2. Homer faced the Comets again the very next day, and saw similar results, falling 6-3.
Undeterred, Homer PeeWees fought back to beat KPHA again, 3-2, to move to the championship game. There, they once again fought hard against the Comets in a much closer game, but ultimately fell 4-3.
PeeWees polish performance at Power Play
The Homer Hockey Association PeeWee C team, coached by Rick Pitta, Josh Pitta and Travis Larson, traveled to Kenai over the weekend to participate in the Peninsula Power Play Tournament.
Homer opened with a 6-0 win over the Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association, but fell to the Alaska Hockey Association Comets 8-2. Homer faced the Comets again the very next day, and saw similar results, falling 6-3.
