Police report – Sept. 19

Homer Volunteer Fire Department
Crews responded to a report of smoke in an apartment on W. Fairview Avenue. Upon arrival, resident had extinguished the cooking fire and crews checked for extension and ensured fire was out.
Crews responded to a wooded area across from Petro Marine gas station to extinguish a smoldering fire in the roots of a tree.

Homer Police Department
• A 911 caller reports theft of fishing poles from building on Pioneer Avenue.
• A caller reports fraudulent use of credit card online.
• A caller requests assistance with two minors attempting to run away.
• A caller reports backpack stolen from vehicle on Greatland Street.
• A caller reports a possible violation of conditions of release.
• An anonymous caller reports excessive noise and sounds of fire crackers emanating from Bishop’s Beach area. Officer Knott responded to area and made contact with the people and warned them against the use of fireworks on the Kenai Peninsula.
• A caller reports a vehicle speeding through camping area.
• Subject presents at counter with drug paraphernalia from local subdivision.
• A local office on Pioneer Avenue reports graffiti on side of building.
• A third party reports a suicide attempt victim. Officers contact parties at South Peninsula Hospital.
• Graffiti found on the Homer Chamber of Commerce building at 135 Sterling Highway.
• A subject requests a welfare check on a male possibly using methamphetamine.
