Rick Brooks in Homer
This weekend, Homer music fans will have the chance to catch one of Alaska’s finest solo musicians. Rick Brooks will be both performing and teaching acoustic guitar styles to anyone who has picked up a guitar and strummed a few chords.
With over 40 years of playing experience and 25 years of professional experience, including stateside touring and national radio shows such as ‘West Coast – Live’. Rick has acquired the reputation as Alaska’s premier acoustic guitarist. Rick will be performing Friday night at the Down East Saloon.
His sets are comprised of an eclectic collection of styles, including pre-war blues, British and American traditional music and a loose assortment of singer-songwriter and original and popular tunes.
For guitarists wishing to expand their skills, Rick will be teaching a 2-hour beginning fingerpicking workshop at the Homer Council on the Arts Saturday afternoon. These will be small, hands-on studies with the size limited to 6-8 students. Contact: or Facebook: Rick Brooks – the Musick.
