How could such a twisted soul ever become a leader of our nation, one of the great nations on the planet?
We ask ourselves that same question my son. We have no good answer, except that it seems the result of a political process to which we've become accustomed. Some things in our culture are very slow, very difficult to change. Our political system is one of those things. We have a cynical expression to explain the process: "Shit rises to the top," meaning that excrement is lighter than water and it floats, as do the excreta disguised as politicians. Their foul qualities enable them to deceive the people who vote them into powerful positions. Do not try to understand this, my son. Just grieve for us and our foolishness.
