Schools closed Tuesday due to snow blizzard

All schools are closed from Anchor Point south to Homer on Tuesday due to a blizzard that dumped several inches of snow.
The National Weather Service had called a blizzard watch through 9 a.m., and was expecting to update the watch after that time. In the meantime, the Homer Senior Center is closed today, with no meals available through the Meals on Wheels Program. The City of Homer was closing all its offices, except for essential personnel. The Homer Chamber of Commerce also is closed, as is the Homer Boys and Girls Club.
Winds were near 60 mph in gusts over night, leaving roads full of snow drifts. Crews were working to clear roads beginning at 7 a.m., but officials were asking motorists to stay off the roads unless necessary to venture out.
Stay tuned for updates.
