Fire/EMS
The Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded to 11 emergency medical calls and one fire call for the week of Feb 22 – 28.
On Feb. 22, The Homer Volunteer Fire Department was called out due to a chimney fire on Jeffrey Ave. off West Hill. Upon arrival, the fire crew found there to be no apparent smoke coming from the residence. Future investigation of the chimney area and wood stove were performed and still no evidence of fire was found.
Drug Related
On Feb. 24, a caller reported a male smoking marijuana in a parked car in the parking lot of a local business. Officer to scene. The officer was unable to locate individual.
Theft
On Feb. 26, a caller reported theft from an unlocked vehicle. Officer was advised.
Disturbance
On March 1, a caller reported a vehicle driving on the grassy area of the Homer High School parking lot. Officers were unavailable at the time of call.
On March 1, a caller reported excessive noise coming from a neighboring house. The police department contacted the neighbor and he/she was advised to turn the radio down.
Animal Related
On Feb. 23, a 911 caller reported a dog barking at his chicken. Officer was advised.
Welfare Check
On Feb. 23, a caller reported a neighbor’s vehicle parked in the driveway with the engine running for an extended period of time. Officer was advised. Contact was made with the owner of the vehicle and everything was fine.
Traffic
On Feb. 24, a caller reported a vehicle parked in a reserved handicapped space without proper placards. Officer was advised but was unavailable at the time of call.
On Feb. 24, a caller reported a reckless driver who was angry after being told he could not dump hazardous material at the dump on this date. Officer was advised.
