Lady Mariner basketball to tackle Kenai at home

• Homer fights on through difficult schedule

The Homer Lady Mariner basketball team continued its struggles over the weekend, falling in two conference games to Soldotna and Wasilla at home.
The Lady M’s opened against SoHi Friday night, and quickly found themselves playing catch-up after falling behind 19-2 in the opening quarter. Things didn’t get much better after that, as the Stars built to a 37-12 lead by the half. The game ended with Lady Mariners falling 18-66.
Elissa Tutt and Melissa Wood shared top-scoring honors for Homer, each with six points. SoHi was led by Megan Hardy and Sierra Ackerman, both with 14.
Homer continued to fight against a strong Wasilla team on Saturday, but had trouble scoring, and succumbed 10-67. Alecia Stafford led the Lady M’s with 4 points.
Homer faces Kenai Central at home this Friday at 5:45 p.m.
