Friends unveil library sign by Doug Schwiesow
The Friends of the Homer Public Library announced a sign commissioned for the entrance of the library by metal sculptor Doug Schwiesow was hung last week.
The sign is constructed of brushed stainless steel letters with a bronze background. Schwiesow was assisted in the construction of the sign by Lisa Krebs, who also made the crane-themed bike racks out in the front of the building and the miniature mushroom chairs in the Children’s Library. Krebs and Kurt Marquardt, who was involved with construction of the library building from the very beginning, and some help from the City of Homer’s boom truck, hung this finishing touch on the wall to the left of the main entrance. The sign was funded by the Friends of the Homer Public Library’s capital campaign account.
