What is going on in this country?

Sharron Cotogno
I can hardly recognize the roots of this great nation due to all the insanity going on recently. We have a Major Nidal Malik Husan, an avowed jihadist, responsible for executing 13 members of the military and wounding even more, while some make excuses for his actions. Shouldn’t we be more concerned about what he might have done to brainwash our returning vets? And how could we forget what he ultimately did to those poor gunned-down American soldiers?
Obama finally made the announcement of the shootings several minutes into his latest speech to an American Native group. He too neglected to say that this was an extremist attack of jihad, but he can say (without all the facts) that a police officer in the Boston area acted “stupidly” and refer to American citizen protestors as “extremists.” He had little trouble coming to those conclusions, but when will he decide on how, when, or if the military request to “beef up” troops in Afghanistan will occur?
We have a Congress that is deficit spending us into oblivion and ignores pleas to stop. They are infected by a spending spree of taxpayer money which neither they, nor we, possess. Since when does it make economic sense to impose new taxes (via healthcare reform and cap and trade) and authorize stimulus bills that provide little, if any, stimulus to a depressed economy suffering from record-high rates of unemployment? (Which are actually much higher than government statistics indicate).  The government statistics are also falsified about the so-called jobs that were “saved.”
Have you noticed how our elected officials have set themselves up much as the French court did prior to the French Revolution? They go off in their private jets while telling us to ride a bicycle to work. (After all, it’s so good for the environment. But that does not apply to them). When we tell them we have no more bread (money), they respond by continuing to ignore us and considering new bills that will pile on new taxes and remove more of our freedoms.
We have Marxist, Communist czars stationed in the White House as advisors to the executive branch of the government. Now these czars – and the sympathetic administration – are trying to undermine this country’s constitutional principles.
And what about the most recent political “bomb” dropped that the perpetrators of the 9/11 tragedy will be brought to trial in a civilian court in New York with full defense benefits, even after they had bragged about their parts and requested execution? These men were soldiers in a war against us, and they should be treated as such. Some say having the trial moved to New York is appropriate because it will show the world how well our justice system works. At what cost – in both money and potential threat to the citizens of New York and the entire country – do we do this?
This is not the America I grew up with and learned to love and respect.  I want my country back.
