Foreign film series begins
The Kachemak Bay campus Student Association presents its “Foreign Film Fridays” this fall. The next one will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 20 with the 2007 Global Film Initiative’s feature from China “Dam Street.” The movie is directed by Li Yu. The event is open to students and the public with donations accepted for attendance.
Square up your dance shoes
There will be a square and contra dance 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21, at West Homer Elementary School. Laura Patty will call to music by Spit City Slickers. Please bring clean, soft-soled shoes to dance in. Beginners welcome. Cost is $6 admission; kids under 16 get in free.
Looking to land art donations
Kachemak Heritage Land Trust is accepting donations of goods or services for their annual fundraising auction, to be held Nov. 21. Donations will be accepted through Nov. 13 at the Land Trust office at 315 Klondike Avenue. Proceeds from the auction support KHLT’s land conservation work on the Kenai Peninsula. Nutcracker Faire spots filling
It’s time for vendors interested in space at this year’s annual Nutcracker Faire to contact the organizers at the Homer Council on the Arts, 235-4288. Organizer Cindy Nelson said a few more booths are available, but are going quick. Also, the Homer Council on the Arts is now accepting applications for board members and the Exhibitions, Programs and Budget Committees. Volunteers needed.
Juried water show sends out invites
The Kenai Fine Arts Center, in Old Towne Kenai, will play host to the Juried Water Media Show through the month of November. Winners will be announced and awards presented at 7 p.m. Patron Awards will to go to those who buy paintings at the reception. The public is invited to come and view the talent of local artists.
Drawing your life
Local artist Gaye Wolfe will lead a life-drawing group; a weekly, open-format/no-instruction class, every Tuesday through March 30. Classes meet from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Bunnell Street Arts Center. The fee for the class is $7 for members, $10 for walk-ins. Models are needed. For more information, contact Gaye at 235-7696.
