Nikolaevsk to host ‘Mixed 6’ tournament
Small schools netters from all over Alaska – including the Ouzinkie Hawks, Old Harbor Lynx and Akhiok Eagles – will converge on Nikolaevsk School on Thursday for the annual Mixed 6 Volleyball Tournament, hosted by the Nikolaevsk Warriors. The two-day event kicks off at 2:30 p.m. Thursday and features three-on-three games, as well as skills competitions in serving and setting.

Community Schools’ ski swap set for Nov. 11
Winter may be coming late, but time is still running out to get geared up for outdoor fun in the snow. What better way to accomplish that goal than the annual Community Schools Ski Swap, scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Nov. 11 at the Homer High commons. The event, which includes ski waxing by the Mariner ski team, is free. For more information, contact Mike Illg at 235-6090.

KSC fundraiser hits Homer Theatre Nov. 13
The Kachemak Ski Club’s rope tow at Ohlson Mountain will get a lift Nov. 13 when the fourth-annual KSC Movie Fundraiser slides into Homer Theatre at 7 p.m. Donations to keep the rope tow going will be accepted at the event, which will feature a fashion show, displays of all the latest ski gear, product giveaways and a screening of Teton Gravity Research’s latest film, “Re:Session.” For more information, contact George Overpeck at 399-6255.
