Police Report – Sept. 30

Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded to 11 emergency medical calls for the week of Sept 21-27.

Kachemak Emergency Services Area responded to one fire call and one medical call for the week of Sept. 21-27.

Traffic
On Sept. 22, a caller reported a vehicle cutting across a parking lot to gain access to an adjacent street. An officer was advised.
On Sept. 24, a caller reported a vehicle traveling dangerously and at a high rate of speed. An officer was advised. Driver was issued a citation.

Suicide Attempt/Threat
On Sept. 22, an out-of-state caller reported a friend threatening suicide. An officer was advised.

Suspicious Circumstances
On Sept. 23, an officer reported a boat being in distress. Contact was made with involved parties. All was OK.

Alaska State Troopers
On Sept. 22, around 3:50 p.m., troopers contacted a 48-year-old Homer man at his residence. He was found to have an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of driving while license suspended. He was taken into custody and booked into Homer Jail with bail of $750.
On Sept. 26 around 1:10 p.m., troopers contacted a 30-year-old Nikolaevsk female at Mile 166 of the Sterling Highway after she was observed operating a vehicle. Troopers knew the woman’s license was in a revoked status from a previous DUI. The woman was issued a summons to appear for DWLR and the car was released to a licensed driver.
At noon on Sept. 27, troopers responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a Homer residence. As a result of the troopers’ investigation, an 18-year-old Homer man was placed under arrest for Assault IV, Domestic Violence. The man was transported to Homer Jail, where he was remanded with no bail.
On Sept. 28 around 1:10 p.m., Alaska State Troopers in Anchor Point received a report of a single-vehicle rollover accident involving a garbage truck at mile 164 of the Sterling Highway. Investigation revealed that the 60-year-old male driver was northbound on the Sterling Highway when he lost control of his truck. The truck left the roadway on the southbound side, coming to rest on its roof in the southbound ditch. The driver was transported to South Peninsula Hospital with minor injuries.
At 7 p.m. Sept. 27, Alaska State Troopers contacted a 46-year-old Nanwalek man for an outstanding warrant for failure to satisfy on a prior DUI case. The man was arrested without incident and transported to Homer jail pending arraignment.
On Sept. 26 around noon, troopers contacted a 23-year-old Homer man after seeing him operate a vehicle near mile 1 East End Road. Troopers knew the man’s license was in a revoked status, which was confirmed. The man was placed under arrest for DWLR and transported to the Homer Jail where he was remanded on $500.
