Homer Middle School is currently seeking a girls’ basketball coach for the middle school basketball season. The season dates are from Oct. 5 – Dec. 12, 2009. High School Graduation Qualifying Exams will take place at the Glacierview Church on Oct 6,7,8 at 7:45 a.m. for the Homer Connections students.
Connections is currently enrolling new and returning students for the 2009/2010 school year. A birth certificate is required for kindergarten and students new to the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District.
Inlet Winds Community Band will meet on Tuesday evenings in the Homer High School band room from 6:30-8.p.m.
McNeil Canyon Elementary is hosting a garage sale on Oct 3, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunchroom size tables are available to rent for $20, half a table is $10. For more information or to reserve a table call 235-8181.

UAA’S Kachemak Bay Campus-KPC
Advanced registration is going on now for these upcoming classes: Whales of Kbay, Plankton Ecology, screenwriting, MS Word, Introduction to Windows, Excel and MORE. Registration required prior to class.
Art Exhibit has opened in KBC Commons: work from KRC Art Faculty.

Chamber of Commerce
Homer Assembly Candidate Luncheon: Tue., September 29th at the Bidarka, 12-1pm. Lunch available. Open to the public.
Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Public Workshop: Carol Bevis will be facilitating the first public CEDS workshop on September 29 at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers. The Homer Chamber of Commerce is co-sponsoring the event. CEDS is a new plan that will serve as an action plan for economic development in the City of Homer.
Nominations Now Being Accepted for the Chamber’s 2010 Board of Directors – The Homer Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2010 Board of Directors. There are 4 open seats, each being a 3-year term. For details or to pick up a candidate form stop by the Chamber of commerce located at 201 Sterling Hwy., or call the Chamber at 235-7740. Pratt Museum
Winter Hours: Open Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., closed Mondays.
The Pratt Museum is seeking donations of art, products, services, gift certificates and other items donated by artists, businesses and individuals for its annual Ritz Art and Adventure Auction fundraiser that takes place Nov. 7. Donations need to be delivered to the Pratt by 5 p.m. on Sept. 25.

Center For Alaskan Coastal Studies
Biota of Alaska: Cetaceans, Sept. 23 – Oct. 21 each Wednesday, 6:30-9:10 p.m., with field trip Sept. 26.

Seniors
Senior Center lunches are served to seniors, their guests and families, Monday – Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.. All lunches include full salad bar and dessert, 235-7655.
